Are you aware that…
Ms Braverman consistently claims that she cares for the environment, especially for that of our local area, but her actions in Parliament suggest otherwise…
…Prime Minister Rishi Sunak’s decision in July 2023 to grant new licences for further oil and gas expansion in the North Sea through the Offshore Petroleum Licensing Bill, Ms Braverman has been vocal in her support of this policy and has repeated many of the government’s (since comprehensively rebutted) assertions about why it is necessary.
The decision to allow new oil and gas expansion has been demonstrated to be incompatible with the target of keeping global temperature increase below an average 1.5 degrees C and directly goes against scientific advice from institutions including the International Energy Agency and the Institute for Sustainable Development.
We WERE heartened to see that Ms Braverman was absent from Parliament for the second reading of this Bill in January 2024 and so did not vote in support of it. However, despite strong opposition to the Bill from Conservative figures including Sir Alok Sharma and Chris Skidmore MP, the Bill passed with a small majority. Find out more here.
…Ms Braverman voted against action to put a legal responsibility for water companies to reduce the amount of sewage they are discharging into our rivers and covering our coastlines with. You can find out more about this here
…Ms Braverman has consistently voted against any motions to strengthen action on climate change, including on those to ban fracking and to prohibit the burning of peat in upland areas. Out of 19 possible climate votes since she became an MP in 2019, she has voted against climate legislation 16 times and abstained from voting 3 times. Read more about her voting record here
…Ms Braverman has repeatedly criticised the net-zero targets set by the government’s own climate scientists to reduce the impacts of climate change, such as the recent extreme flood events in the UK. Read more here
…Some of her closest political allies are known climate sceptics who continually spread climate disinformation – a leading climate-delayer sponsored her 2022 bid for leadership of the Conservative Party. Find out more
Our letter to Ms Braverman
5th January 2024 Dear Ms Braverman, We are writing to you as a group of Fareham constituents, who are increasingly concerned about a lack of action from our elected representatives on the issues of both climate change and wider environmental degradation. As a result of these concerns we have decided to align ourselves with the…
Cleaning up our water
Ms Braverman has stated that she fully supports her Ministerial colleagues aim to make this the first generation that leaves the environment in a better state than we found it, meaning that the Conservative government will act on the concerns raised around the impact climate change will have on our lives. Ms Braverman agrees that…
Who are we?
We are a non party-political group of local constituents who are united by our concern over our MP’s lack of action both to preserve our local environment and to address the serious threat posed by the climate crisis.
We have written to Ms Braverman to inform her of our concerns and to ask her to work with us for the good of the constituency. You can read our letter to her here.
As of the end of January we are still awaiting a reply, but we are very pleased to say that she did not attend and vote for the Bill mentioned in the letter.
Our aims are to remain politically neutral but also to ensure that everyone in Fareham (soon to be Fareham & Waterlooville as the new constituency) is aware of how their MP acts and votes when it comes to the environment and climate, and can decide for themselves whether that mirrors what they say in public.
We are part of the MP Watch National Network, advocating for truth and honesty in politics.

Our Aims
EDUCATIONAL AND POLITICAL
As a non-partisan group, we believe politicians of all persuasions should work towards a healthy and sustainable environment. Our aim is to keep the populations of Fareham and Waterlooville informed – and to counter misinformation – with a view to enabling them to make informed voting decisions about candidates with respect to the the critical issues:
Loss of bio-diversity
Global warming
A healthy environment

About Fareham MP Watch
We’re locals who love our community, and care about the cost-of-living crisis and climate change. We don’t represent any political party, nor are we from any one religion or background but are brought together by one goal – to turn the spotlight on Braverman’s betrayal of Britain.
